tagg.org is an independent, altruistic, no-frills, no-profit source of ideas and information, mainly about music. It uses no cookies, has no ads, no analytics, no targeting, no ‘joining’ or ‘signing up’ or ‘logging in’, and no truck with asocial media.
Philip Tagg, creator of this website and formerly Professor at Université de Montréal, passed away on 9th May, aged 80. He had been unwell for a while.
You can access the programme for his funeral held on the 23rd, and also a slide show that was run afterwards with a selection of photos from Phil's life.
A brief memorial will be held at the upcoming Symposium on Theory and Analysis in Popular Music at the University of Liverpool on July 8th.
It is hoped to keep this website going at least for the time being.

“A democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the their democratic state itself. That ... is fascism.” (US President Roosvelt, 1938)
